Post-Microneedling Recovery

Microneedling treatment itself is extremely effective for correcting the appearance of scarring, pigmentation, texture, fine lines, rosacea, acne and giving an all-over glow. However, the treatment itself is only part of the equation. A large factor in the results from micro-needling treatments are determined by what happens after the client leaves the treatment room and how well their skin is cared for during the healing process. During Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) / Micro-Needling, we can create thousands of micro-channels in the skin. These channels are the perfect gateway for nutrient delivery and it’s important to acknowledge they also leave the skin temporarily vulnerable.
To ensure clients achieve radiant and safe results, we rely on the ‘Collagen Induction Therapy Facial using Herbal Skin Solutions CIT Pen’ Protocol.
Here is how to navigate your post-care recovery.
1. The Immediate "Glide" & Calm
During the treatment, we use a High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid Serum as a glide. This is intentional. Unlike low-weight HA which can sometimes travel too deep during the inflammatory phase, a high purity, high molecular weight HA sits perfectly to hydrate the surface and provide an immediate protective cushion.
Immediately following the treatment, we apply the Saian Hydrating Hyaluronic Sheet Mask. This brings the skin temperature down and floods those open channels with soothing hydration.
2. The First 24 Hours: Gentle Preservation
In the first 24 hours, your skin is a "sponge." This is the time to avoid toxins and stick to the basics.
-
The Cleanse: Use the Herbal Cream Cleanser. It is vital to use a gentle, non-stripping, pH-balanced formula. Avoid "active" cleansers with acids or exfoliants.
-
The Barrier: Your skin may feel tight. Re-applying your Hyaluronic Acid Serum frequently during the first day keeps the skin supple and prevents the "crusty" feeling that can lead to exacerbated irritation.
3. Days 2 through 7: The Repair Phase
Once the micro-channels have closed (typically within a few hours up to 24 hours depending on depth), we move from protection to reconstruction. This is where the Herbal Skin Solutions Post-Care Kit becomes your best asset.
-
Vitamin C+ Enhancement Serum: The tyrosinase inhibitors and antioxidants in this formula work to reduce the appearance of uneven pigmentation while hydrating your skin with the essential nutrients and humectants it needs to accelerate the benefits from CIT.
-
Healing Cream Barrier Support Moisturizer: The tyrosinase inhibiting, lipid-rich formula helps protect the skin while it heals.
4. Dr. Setterfield’s Expert Tips for Success
-
Avoid the gym and strenuous exercise for at least 48-72 hours (until all redness and sensitivity post-treatment has subsided). Sweat is acidic and can irritate the micro-channels, leading to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
-
No scrubbing / exfoliation: You can return to gentle enzymes once the skin no longer feels "tight" or sensitive. Some licensed professionals will have clients come back after their skin is fully healed and all sensitivity post treatment has subsided to receive a Mandelic Acid Chemical Peel to supercharge results.
-
The Golden Rule: If it tingles, it’s too early. Stick to your Healing Cream and Hyaluronic Acid until the skin feels completely "back to normal."
Final Thoughts
Microneedling results build over time and can be phenomenal, however it is not automatic and takes time. By using the Herbal Skin Solutions protocol, you are providing your skin with the essential building blocks it needs to produce high-quality Type I collagen and increase cell to cell communication in order to achieve brightened, tightened, clear skin.
